The Gibraltar Electricity Authority, with the support of H.M. Government of Gibraltar, has embarked on its largest project to date, with the tender for the New Power Station having been awarded to Bouygues Energies & Services SAS.

On the 11th December 2014, agreements were signed by all parties involved, with the price of the New Power Station amounting to £77 million. Furthermore, an agreement for the Operation and Management for the first 12 months of operation of the New Power Station has also been agreed at a price of £2 million.

The New Power Station will have an installed generating capacity of about 80 Mw, and is forecast to meet Gibraltar’s power requirements for the next 30 years, with the commissioning of such Power Station estimated for mid 2017.
